Did everyone see the video clip of O’Reilly screaming uncontrollably at Geraldo Rivera on his show last night about illegal immigration? http://youtube.com/watch?v=tLPuGuaZTx8 Geraldo had a good point ladies and gentlemen. The inscription on our Statue of Liberty reads “give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses…” Construction company owners legitimately have a very hard time hiring lazy Americans to work for them for decent wages. Thoughts?? Doesn’t our country welcome imigrants with open arms? Don’t we all benefit from their hard work?
I’m just glad I don’t really have a dog in the fight because it’s going to get messier than this. Part of me thinks its funny but in reality while I don’t think illegal anything is OK, I’m afraid it’s too late for there to be a clean fix on this one…
OK let’s slow down there just a bit…
“Constuction company owners legitimately have a very hard time hiring lazy Americans to work for them for decent wages.”
I’ll admit I’ve not been up here in Nashville very long, so I’ll speak from my experience. In Florida, the term minimum wage is a joke when it comes to illegal construction workers, and to expect a “decent wage” as an American construction worker is highly unlikely. Yes our country welcomes IMIGRANTS with open arms. People willing to go through the process of becoming an American citizen and then working to assimilate themself into the American culture.
Play by the rules, pay your dues. Is that too much to ask? How much do we spend every year in taxes educating the children of illegal immigrants? Creating special ESL classes, and translation assistance, with tax money that the illegal immigrant don’t pay. It’s out of hand, and our representatives in DC continue to pay it lip service while the issues are hot, all the while look the other way.
What are you talking about? Seriously, try to really mean what you blog about. . . not just write something to wind people up.
yeah. . that’s what our country is about. . .illegal immigrants. That’s really what you think. . . right.
For your information 2 points:
1) blogging can be about a lot more than just one’s own in-a-box personal interests that sometimes interest others to read about and SOMETIMES DON’T.
2) I legitimately feel there are two sides to the illegal immigration debate and I, personally enjoy a good debate. It’s a much more interesting way to approach blogging on certain issues. The morning I wrote this, my husband and I almost came to blows arguing different sides of the issue
so I brought that debate to this forum.
